It’s time, once again, for an event announcement and this time it is Weekend Breakfast Blogging (WBB). WBB is an event started by Nandita of Saffron Trail and is now guest hosted every month with a breakfast related theme. I am honoured to host this month’s edition and the theme this time is “Grains in my Breakfast“

Starting from the upper left corner, featured in this picture are broken wheat, amaranth flour, cornmeal, broken red rice, rolled oats and malted red millet.
As we know, breakfast is the meal which kick starts our body to face the day (till lunch, at least) after a long night’s rest. The healthier and more complete our breakfast the better our bodies respond to the demands we make on them. Grains, in their natural unrefined form, play an important role in this and if we look into traditional breakfasts in various parts of the world, we will fing grains figuring in them one way or the other.
By grains, I’m referring to rice, wheat, corn, barley, oats, millet, quinoa, sorghum, amaranth, etc. You can find more information on grains here, here and here
For this WBB, use grains (preferably as wholegrain and unrefined form) in any way you would like; whole, broken, as flour, or a variety of 2 or more grain forms cooked together. Some examples of foods are breads (flatbreads as well), pancakes, dosas, muffins.
A lot of Indian breakfast foods incorporate grains in some form. As long as the dish features grain as a main ingredient and is served up for breakfast, then it is WBB compliant this month.
So to be a part of WBB: Grains in my Breakfast, all you have to do is.
1) Cook up a breakfast dish featuring grain (preferably wholegrain) as the main ingredient.
2) Blog about it anytime between today and the the 30th of September, 2008 (midnight your time). Please link your post to this page and Nandita’s WBB page. Please feel free to use the logo if you wish. A smaller version is on the sidebar of this blog.
3) Send me a mail at [email protected] [that is aprna(zero)(zero)@gmail.com], with the following details:
a) Your name and your location:
b) The name of your blog:
c) The permalink/ url of your blog:
d) The name of your WBB dish:
e) The permalink/ url of your WBB post:
f) a picture of your dish (300 pixels please)
If you do not have a blog but would like to a part of this event, please send me your post with all the required details and I will be happy to include it in the round-up.
That’s all you have to do. I’m looking forward to your entries and healthier breakfasts. Please remember that all entries must be vegetarian (eggs allowed)
Please make sure that all the details I have requested are included in your e-mail. Please don’t make me go and look for these details. Thank you.
My apologies for the delay in the MBP: Fruit Fare round-up. Now that my computer is back, I shall be posting the round-up within a day or two.
Update (30th September, 2008):
It has been brought to my notice that there was a typo in my event announcement. My e-mail id was typed as [email protected] which is incorrect. Please accept my apologies for creating so much confusion. My correct id is [email protected]. Thank you Bee.

I’m so glad I stopped by to answer your Ener-g question – now I know about this WBB theme – I’d love to participate! You know, I can’t get Ener-g in France, either, but I brought some back from a recent trip to the US :)Depending on how many eggs you’re replacing, I would say maybe trying silken tofu or soy yogurt if you can get it and corn startch. Like 100g soy yogurt and a few tablespoons cornstartch. It’s tough with these flaky-type pasteries. Good luck!
Perfect theme for breakfast. Already looking forward to the round up for this one!
Sounds interesting,am looking forward to a lot of healthy breakfast dishes at the roundup:)
Aparna, this sounds great idea.Hey I forgot to mentioned that the small bun round up was a cool and serves a great refrence material.

Aparna, I’ll send my entry shortly. The link for this announcement in TOI is not working. Did you check it out?
Now I checked it and its working Aparna. Previously I got a blogspot error page.
I have posted Brown Rice Dosas today Aparna. I’ll be sending the mail shortly. Thank you.
The above is my comment Aparna.
Aparna , Can i send a recipe made with rice flour (white) – If yes- tell me I will update my post and send u a mail .
Cham,White rice is ok, as the theme is “Grains” so it doesn’t have to be whole grain. Only it has to be a breakfast dish.Looking forward to your entry.
which e-mail is it? aparna00 or aprna00 ?
