Announcing the March 2013 Edition Of “Does My Blog Look Good In This (DMBLGiT)?”

I am happy to be hosting the food blog photography event,” Does My Blog Look Good in This (DMBLGiT)?”, once again. Having hosted ittwice before, I’m more than happy to have it here once more.

As most of would know, DMBLGiT was started in 2005 by Andrew of SpitoonExtra, and is a monthly food (and drink) photography event open to all bloggers who have posted a food photograph on their blogs.

Each participant submits one photograph from their blog posts of the previous month one, and these are judged and scored by a panel of 5 judges.

Based on the scores, the winners are selected in each of three categories (edibility, aesthetics, and originality). There will also be three overall winners and one winner who gets picked by the host of the month, in this case that’s me!

Before I get to the details on how to participate in this month’s DMBLGiT?, may I introduce you to my judges. They are all food bloggers and cook and write about some really good food. Believe me when I say that their blogs are worth not just taking more than one look at, but also following regularly.

And if that’s not enough, they are responsible for some pretty amazing photography. I guess I don’t need to tell you I’m a fan! They have all been kind enough to find the time to judge this month’s edition of DMBLGiT?, and here they are.

Radhika Penagonda

Radhika is a food blogger, photographer and mom from Bangalore, India currently living in Texas. Passionate about vegetarian home-made food prepared from natural ingredients, she shares her love for the pure comfort of a home cooked meal and food photography on her blog, Just Homemade. Harini Prakash

Harini is a full time worker and mother of two. When she is not working, she moonlights as Sunshinemom, of Tongue Ticklers, where she shares vegan baking and cooking recipes, interspersed with family stories, with emphasis on wholegrain and gluten free options. Nashira Usef

Nashira is the author of the food blog, Plateful which chronicles her love for delicious home-cooked meals, and passion for beautiful photography and styling. For her, food is a lifestyle, with focus on cooking healthy, wholesome and deliciously appetizing meals drawn from her Indian heritage and cross-cultural flavours as an expatriate living in the Middle East. Sarka Babika

Sarka is a London based food and lifestyle photographer and has been living in London since 2008. She was born and brought up in Prague in the Czech Republic. She shares her passion for food, travel and photography on her blog, Cook Your Dream. See more of her work….

Rosa Mayland

Rosa is the creator of Rosa’s Yummy Yums, a food blog. She lives in a small Geneva countryside village situated in the French speaking part of Switzerland – a few meters away from the French border. An Anglo-Swiss food enthusiast, she loves photography (in general), loud rock or electronic music, walks in the countryside, meeting interesting people, cats, books and independent films.

She’s particularly fond of British, Asian, Caribbean, Mediterranean, South American, Middle Eastern delights as well as regional and traditional Swiss specialties. And The DMBLGiT Rules:

In general DMBLGiT rules which are as follows –

Only one food/drink photograph may be entered per person.

The photograph must have been taken by you.

The photograph must have been posted on your blog between the 1st and the **28th February, 2013.

The deadline to submit your entry is the midnight of the 20th March, 2013, whenever that is in your part of the world.

The above mentioned panel of judges will assess the quality of all of the entries before eventually selecting winners from the pictures. The winners will be selected in the following categories:

Aesthetics: composition, food styling, lighting, focus, etc.

Edibility: Does the photo make us want to take a big bite out of our computer monitor while drooling on our keyboard?

Originality: a photo that makes you stop, look twice, and think “Wow! I never thought of photographing it like that before.”

My announcement post with the winners for this month should be published on the **1st April, 2013.

And now the specific details for participating in this month’s DMBLGiT –

1. Draft an e-mail with DMBLGiT as the subject line.
2. Attach one qualifying food or drink photo, 500 pixels in width. Please ensure your photograph does not have any text or watermarks on it.
3. In your mail, please include the following details:

Your name

The title of the image/what it is

The URL of the post that carries your photograph

The camera and lens you used

I have created a gallery in Picasa where I will be adding your photographs as I receive them. If you do not receive an acknowledgment from me within 72 hours, please leave a message in the comments section of this post, and I will get back to you.
